SIECUS Internships

Application Deadline: May 2024

Remote SIECUS Policy internships are available part-time during  the summer. Policy interns will assist the SIECUS team with a variety of activities including, but not limited to:

  • Researching, monitoring, and tracking state laws and policies impacting sex education and sexual and reproductive health and rights more broadly
  • Support the advancement of the federal Real Education and Access for Healthy Youth Act and related federal initiatives concerning youth reproductive and sexual health and education. 
  • Supporting advocacy projects by: analyzing proposed bills, developing letters or position papers, drafting fact sheets and other collateral, identifying decision-makers and stakeholders,  and participating in outreach to allies and stakeholders
  • Support the development of graphically dynamic explanations and analyses of policy impacts at the state and federal level
  • Participating in coalition meetings on behalf of SIECUS
  • Liaising with Congressional offices, including through logistical planning for Hill meetings and briefings
  • Supporting the planning of annual advocacy events, such as the SIECUS Sex Ed National Week of Action and Sex Ed on the Hill Convening 
  • Support the updating of State Policy Profiles and other annual SIECUS publications 
  • Author blog posts on specific topics as determined by the Internship Manager and Intern
  • Author email and text action alerts on specific policy initiatives to mobilize constituents
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings 
  • Provide technical support to regular SIECUS programming, including SIECUS ONLINE webinars
  • Assisting with special projects as needed
